Winter Tryout Meeting

Any girls 7-12 grade interested in trying out for our Winter Season should plan to attend an informational meeting Tuesday October 13 at 7:30 at Orchard Park Middle School! We hand out the required forms and paper work and discuss the expectations for the season!

Orchard Park Athletics Winter 2015 Season Timeline and Due Dates


Friday 10/16/15 – Athletic Placement Process Parent Permission (APP PP) forms are due in Athletic Office.  (ONLY FOR 7TH AND 8TH GRADE STUDENTS WHO ARE LOOKING TO PLAY A HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL SPORT)

Friday 10/16/15 – HS sports physicals from 2:00-2:30pm in HS Health Office.

Tuesday, 10/20/15 – MS sports physicals (A PHYSICAL IS VALID FOR ONE CALENDAR YR.) -  and MS Athletic Placement Process (APP) Physical Maturity Exams from 2:30-3:00pm in MS Health Office.   **If students do not submit an APP Parent Permission form by 10/16 and pass the APP Physical Maturity Exam on 10/20they may not participate in testing.**

Thursday 10/22/15  Athletic Placement Process Physical Fitness testing at 2:30pm in MS Aux Gym.  If students did not submit an APP Parent Permission form by 10/16 and pass the APP Physical Maturity Exam on 10/20, they may not participate in testing.

Tuesday 10/27/15 – Athletic Placement Process Physical Fitness testing in MAux Gym at 2:30pm. 

Monday 11/2/15 – All Varsity and JV forms are due to the HS Health Office. (Please note that forms may not be dated earlier than 30 days prior (Oct 9th) to the start of practice which is November 9th.

Monday 11/9/15 – All Varsity and JV tryouts/practices begin. (See Athletics pg. of OPCSD Website for “First Day Information”)

Wednesday, 11/18/15 - Winter Athletic Parent Meeting 6pm - OPHS

**Missing due dates will affect an athlete’s eligibility for tryouts**

Spirit Week and Homecoming!

Spirit Week begins Monday 9/14 - Friday 9/18


All cheerleaders are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to dress up and participate in ALL homecoming events!

Pep Rally - High School students only, 6pm High School gym Cheerleaders will meet at 5pm.

Parade -  St Mark's Episcopal Church on 20A. Cheerleaders will meet 8:30 AM to decorate the float.

Carnival - 10:30-1:00 PM HS Athletic Field. Open to the public and free admission! Cheerleaders will work various games and activities throughout the morning!

Homecoming Football Game - OP vs Bennett HS kick opp at 1:00 PM. JV cheerleaders will be required to attend the game until the completion of halftime and remain in full uniform.

TRYOUTS 8/17-18 ORCHARD PARK MIDDLE SCHOOL

VARSITY: Must wear a white tank top or fitted t-shirt and black or maroon shorts DAY ONE
JV: Must wear a white tank top or fitted t-shirt and black or maroon shorts DAY TWO

MONDAY, DAY ONE 8-12pm
8:00     Learn tryout cheer, review proper jump technique, and allow time for tumbling.
10:30   JV DISMISSED. VARSITY ONLY JUDGES PANEL TRYOUT!  You are free to leave after you perform.

TUESDAY, DAY TWO – 8-12pm
8:00 am: JV Stunting/VARSITY FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE
9:00: Material review
9:30: Judges Panel begins. Girls will be called into tryout at random by grade level.  You are free to leave after you perform.
Final teams will be posted to the blog no earlier than 5pm!

EQUIPMENT EXPENSES **Expect to PAY IN FULL BY THURSDAY AUGUST 20, 2015**
OPHS provides a vest, skirt, warm up jacket, warm up pants and two (2) poms. These items are returned to the school at the end of each season. Each girl is responsible for purchasing the following items. Cheerleaders will need the following; items from previous OPHS cheer seasons can be carried over if they are in good condition:

Interested in making Varsity Cheer?!

For any 11th or 12th grader interested in trying out for Varsity Cheer:

Starting Wednesday July 8th We will be holding VARSITY only practices at the HS track from 6-7:30. 

It is an expectation that if you want to be a part of the program and on the team you make an effort to come to practice every Wednesday for an hour and a half. 

You will be expected to tryout for Varsity with "Elite" skills, it is to your benefit to come to open workouts this summer and learn what these new skills are!!

CanAm Information!

Flight & Airport Info
We are flying: Spirit Airlines Flight #289 departing at 6:10 PM from Niagara Falls Airport arriving at 8:02 PM in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Please plan to arrive to the Niagara Falls Airport no later than 4:45 PM. Keep in mind rush hour and Grand Island bridge traffic and plan accordingly.
·         Check-in:
All passengers MUST PRINT BOARDING PASSES PRIOR TO ARRIVING AT AIRPORT!!! Spirit Airlines will charge you $10 to print these there so be prepared! We will figure out a way to print them off at the hotel for our returning flight J
·         Bag restrictions: I found this website to be helpful (and entertaining) when learning about flying Spirit.
Your “Free” personal item must meet the specification of 16x14x12 inches. Cheerleaders should plan to use their maroon backpack as their carryon with the following items only:
·         UNIFORM (skirt, shell, bodysuit)
·         Sneakers & socks
·         Competition bow
·         Black compression shorts
·         ID, money, phone

If you paid for a $30 checked bag, please make sure it is under 40 lbs; anything over starts at $25 per bag. The girls were encouraged to pack LIGHTLY since we will be in cheer gear most of the weekend! There is no need for multiple outfits, shoes, bags, etc.

General Weekend Itinerary:
Friday: Arriving at hotel around 9:00 PM, relax and early lights out.

Sunday:  Leave for competition at 1:30 PM and compete at 4:12 PM. Award ceremony is scheduled for 6:00, followed by a team dinner at to be determined restaurant!
Monday: Early rise and free time on the Boardwalk. We will leave for the airport around 1:00 PM.

NYSPHSAA Cheerleading Finals

Our first ever STATES competition is this weekend, Saturday March 7, 2015 at Rochester Institute of Technology. The competition scheduled to begin at 11:00am. The event will be held inside the Gordon Field House.



Admission is $8.00/adult. Parking is free. Doors will open to spectators at 10am. There will only be one session for 47 teams so we recommend getting a good seat early!

Cheerleaders MUST ride the bus to competition with the team. We will meet at the Freeman side of the high school at 9:15am. The girls should arrive wearing full uniform: bodysuit, shell, spankies, warm up jacket, black warm up pants, competition bow, and full hair and makeup. Skirts and cleaned competition shoes should be kept in their bags; they may wear Uggs or other boots until we arrive at RIT.

Varsity will warm up at 12:32 and perform at 1:12 
Awards 3:15

Girls may ride home with THEIR parents or guardian only and must give us a note when the get on the bus on the morning. No notes can be excepted at RIT because we need to give the bus driver a head count before we leave the high school. We anticipate arriving back to Orchard Park around 5:30

Lets bring home our first STATE TITLE!!

ECIC Info for Coaches

Coaches,

We are very excited to host this weekend's competition and welcome you back to Orchard Park! Below are a few details for the day:

Team Arrival:

GPS: 4017 Freeman Road, Orchard Park NY 14127 **NOT 4040 Baker Road**

Doors will open at 7:45am for teams to arrive. Please direct your buses to the Freeman Road entrance of the high school. Once you enter the parking lot, there will be an attendant to give your bus driver instructions on where to park. Teams will enter at the main building entrance, NOT the gym entrance. 

You will be directed to team registration where you will receive the schedule for the day, lay out of activities, and a garbage bag for your team. 

Team Storage:

All teams will be using our auditorium for their bags. You will have assigned rows as to not cause confusion. This will be manned by Orchard Park High School staff at all times to ensure safety.ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED IN THE AUDITORIUM!  
Fan Arrival:

GPS: 4040 Baker Road, Orchard Park NY 14127

Please direct your fans to park on the Baker Road Side of the building, however additional parking will be available on the Freeman Side entrance as well. Please advise your fans to abide by town parking laws. We have contacted the police but cannot guarantee they will not issue tickets. 

Warm Ups:

Morning tumbling warm ups will take place in the main gym from 8:45-9:00am. Please have your team report to a corner of the mat by 8:40am. We will have two attendants running tumbling as to avoid collisions. 

Please arrive to the curtained area in the cafeteria at your assigned call time. You will have 5 minutes to stretch (1 panel),  5 minutes to warm up stunts (2 panels), 5 minutes to run your routine (7 panels). You will have 10 minutes to make it down to the gym before your performance time. Bathrooms and water are available in the warm up area.  Your team will be escorted to the main gym for your performance time where there will also be a water station.  

Main Gym:

We will provide a priority seating area that will be available to your fans. This will be located in the roped off area in front of the judges’ booth. Judges will be set up on risers to ensure the best possible view.

Activities:

We will have food and drink available to purchase in the Commons area, as well as several cheerleading vendors (bows, shorts, make-up, etc), Official ECIC t-shirts, action photo shots, Dippin-Dots, and more!
